Beet greens have no fat and cholesterol. It can be prepared in the same way as kale. Simply remove the leaves from the stem, rinse and chop them.
Ingredients:
Total time taken : 15 mins
1. Oil - 1 tbsp.
2. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
3. Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
4. Chana dal - 1/2 tsp
5. Beet greens ( chopped ) - a bunch
6. Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
7. Salt - 1/2 tsp
8. Coconut ( grated ) - 2 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Remove the beets from the stem and wash it completely.2. Chop them along with the stem.
3. In a pan add oil and tempering ingredients( mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal).
4. Once the mustard seeds starts crackling add onion and sauté for 2 mins.
5. Add beet leaves to it and mix well.
6. Add chilli powder and salt. Mix well. The leaves start leaving water by itself. There is no need to add any water.
